Der 507 nutzte technische Komponenten aus der 502- und 503-Serie, darunter ein 3,2-Liter-Aluminiumventilblock V-8, der mit zwei Vergasern verbessert wurde und rund 150 PS hervorbrachte.
Der US-Importeur Max Hoffmann bat um die Dienste des Grafen Albrecht von Goertz für das Design des BMW 507. Goertz zeichnete die schönsten Linien, die jemals in Metall verewigt wurden.
Der 507 wurde von Hand gefertigt und zu einem Preis von über 11.000 Dollar verkauft, was damals für jedes Auto eine gewaltige Summe war. Der 507 wurde nach nur zweieinhalb Jahren und 252 Exemplaren eingestellt. Die Grundlinien des 507 inspirierten weitere moderne BMW-Designs, einschließlich des Z8, der als geistiger Nachfolger entwickelt wurde. Der 507 fand sein Zuhause bei Wohlhabenden und Stars wie Elvis Presley.
Dieser BMW 507 Roadster ist ein spätere Variante der Serie II und wurde 1958 fertiggestellt und ausgeliefert.

The 507 would utilize the best of Bavaria, with mechanical components sourced from the 502 and 503 series, including a 3.2-liter, overhead-valve aluminum block V-8, which had been improved with twin carburetors in order to produce some 150-plus hp.
It was Max Hoffman who had final approval of the design, so he requested the services of Count Albrecht von Goertz. For Hoffman and BMW, Goertz imagined some of the most beautiful lines ever folded into metal.
The 507 was hand-built at a price that eventually reached over $11,000, which was a towering sum for any car at the time, and it was discontinued after only two-and-a-half years and 252 examples. The basic lines of the 507 went on to inspire one of the greatest modern BMW designs, including the Z8, which became its spiritual successor in the carriage houses of the wealthy and stylish.
This BMW 507 roadster is a later series II example and was completed and delivered in 1958.
