1993 Jaguar XJS 4.0 convertible
We acquired this silver-blue Jaguar XJS from an insurance company in the US, following a minor collision. Despite the damage, the car remains structurally sound and offers excellent potential as a project vehicle.
The damage includes the right front (corner panel beneath the bumper, wheel, tire, and the jacking point where the lower cross brace attaches) and the left rear corner panel (below the bumper). Additionally, the left rear floorboard has minor damage caused by forklift handling during port transport.
Having spent most of its life in dry climates, this Jaguar has a solid, rust-free body. However, the weathered silver blue paint and visible wear make a full respray inevitable.
Mechanically, this XJS appears fundamentally sound. The oil and filters are clean, and the AJ6 engine runs smoothly with strong oil pressure. The transmission operates as expected, and the brakes are functional. Due to the damage at the right front, the front suspension will need inspection and realignment. The service history is unknown, and the odometer currently reads 127,013 miles.
The interior shows its age and requires refurbishment. The dark blue soft-top canvas has a small hole and is missing its headliner, though the automatic soft-top mechanism functions correctly. The car comes with one Tebbe key only, but the missing key can be recreated using the key number records.
An aftermarket alarm system is installed, but it doesn’t appear to immobilize the car or trigger any audible alarms. It does, however, activate the hazard lights via two additional relays in the engine compartment.
A project car well worth the effort. With the right care and attention, it can be restored to its former glory as a stunning and reliable driver.
