This 2.5-litre Triumph TR7 is an ex-California car that has benefited from an extensive restoration, including a bare metal respray with a colour change to Mallard Green.
The rebuild involved a replacement chassis and a right-hand drive conversion. The engine received a rebuild using a UK-spec cylinder head and a conversion to SU carburettors, along with new ancillaries: water pump, alternator, starter motor and 123 electronic ignition distributor. The gearbox was overhauled and fitted with an overdrive. Further work included installing a Revotec electric fan, stainless steel exhaust and manifold, renewed brakes and hoses, rebuilt drive shafts and propshaft, and wheel arch liners. The suspension was rebuilt using Polybushes and new gas dampers, and electric power steering was installed. The car sits on Revolution 5-spoke alloy wheels, accompanied by a new steel spare wheel, and the seats are sourced from a Mazda MX-5.
Documentation includes a Heritage Certificate, V5C recording one former keeper in the UK, an impressive stack of invoices from the car's time in this country, photographs documenting the restoration, import papers and an American registration certificate. The Triumph was manufactured in December 1975, and was first registered in the UK in 2014.
The vendor advises that it has not been used for several years and can smoke when hot. He has also pointed out a small leak from the heater tap on the cylinder head.
